Geek Speak: Understanding Your Industry

It is really important to know your industry. Often in the workplace, we get caught up in the daily grind. Procedures become the norm, after A is B. We miss the big picture. How does this help my customer? How does this make/save money for my company? Today's workforce must be adaptive because industry standards are at a constant change (financial regulation, →

The Club.

Suzanne and I recently purchased a Nespresso machine. We had been looking at espresso machines for a while and had listened to the whole 19 Bars of pressure speech from various sales reps. A few weeks ago, we walked into the Williams and Sonoma store in Bell Square. We passed by the see-through bread toaster and straight to the →

Blackberry vs iPhone

A few posts back, I stated that I would be an iPhone user for as long as my parents payed for it. Well I lied. I recently bought a Blackberry Bold 9700 and I love it. I have been bored with the iPhone for a while. I had been an iPhone user since the day it was released. I remember →

Funny Money

I have not posted in a long while. Hey! I have been busy. This post is materializing because I am using it as a tool to further my procrastination. I am supposed to be studying for the CFA exam but I find myself here talking to myself (or maybe you). A few days ago I was surfing on Drudge (this was →

“That’s Phelim!”

I was just watching the news and they announced that an Irish documentarian was cut off in a Q&A session with Al Gore. While over hearing the accent, Suzanne shouted, "That's Phelim!". Sure it was. Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney are the Irish directors the movie, Mine Your Own Business. When I was at Seattle University, I hosted Phelim and →

A VISION Of Peace

Here is an email I just sent the president: Hey Obama, I also have a vision of peace. Can I go halfers on your Nobel prize money? Your Constituent, Phillip Roman ======================================================================== Obama just won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. I really don't know why. The committee stated that he has captured the world's attention and has given us hope (too bad he could not give →

2012 – That’s it?

I read this review from the Daily Mail for the upcoming release of 2012 and thought that they were being mean and overdramatic movie buffs. Hey it's the end of the world and things are going to get crazy. Well...I WAS WRONG!!! After watching the trailers for the film, I couldn't agree more. This movie is RIDICULOUS! Just watch for →

Barrio in Bellevue

I loved Barrio in Capitol Hill and I love Barrio's new location in Bellevue! Suzanne and I went last night before going to see the September Issue (btw: a really great film). We ordered guacamole, ceviche and crudo sampler, chicken tacos, mexican chopped salad with flank steak, short ribs, tres leches cake with pears, cafe y leche creme brulee, and salted →

Cupcake Showdown!

MMM....cupcakes. My fiancé is a semiprofessional cupcake (and the occasional muffin and regular sized cake - oh and she makes good lemon bars - so does that make her a semipro baker?? I don't know.) baker. When we heard that Trophy Cupcakes was opening their first shop on the Eastside, we were excited to try it out. Trophy's Bellevue location →

Bastardizing the BMW M1

The M1 is the epitome of BMW's greatness. I have always wanted one and hope to one day buy a '81. I have hoped that BMW would one day bring back their beloved supercar. I was excited to see a while back in '08 that BMW was working on a M1 prototype....and am angry to have just hear some "confirmed" →

The last few weeks Suzanne and I have been hanging out at Top Pot doughnuts in Bellevue. We have only really gone to Top Pot a few times when we lived in Capitol Hill but we have both recently discovered the emotional qualities of a daily doughnuts (and hopefully will never discover the physical qualities). Top Pot offers free wifi, →

Catholic Engaged Encounter = Last Chance For Summer Camp

I am currently writing this post at [some will probably be after-(it was)] my Catholic Engaged Encounter retreat with Suzanne. EE is a couple's weekend that is a requirement for marrage in most parishes in the Puget Sound area. Months ago when Suzanne and I were first talking (to each other) about marriage, we first discovered EE. EE is designed to →

Anti-Reichert Healthcare Ad

Just saw this ad on TV. Effective? Probably. Update: Dave's Response Moveon.org can tell anyone they want that I voted against a $1.1 trillion government take-over of health care that would increase the cost of care, impose new penalty taxes on small businesses, and prevent Americans from keeping the care they have if they like it.  That vote was in the best →

Pelosi was crying?

“I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because I saw … I saw this myself in the late '70s in San Francisco,” Pelosi said, choking up and with tears forming in her eyes. “This kind of rhetoric is just, is really frightening and it created a climate in which we, violence took place and … →

PwnageTool 3.1 Released

PwnageTool 3.1 was just released about thirty minutes ago. I will admit that I have and will always jailbreak my iPhone for as long as I have one (as long as my parents still continue to pay for my AT&T bill). Jailbreaking opens up endless possibilities for your iPhone. It's a lot more than just a nice background on your →
